Matt Keikoan: A First-Time World Series of Poker Championship Bracelet Winner
From the beautiful City of Richmond in California, Matt Keikoan was one of the most impressive professional poker players who dominated the World Series of Poker in 2008. In fact, he was able to achieve a major milestone in his prestigious poker career after winning a WSOP championship bracelet at the $2,000 No-Limit Holdem event of the 39th Annual WSOP. Aside from the title, he also has achieved six outstanding money finishes to achieve a solid status amongst the biggest names in the game of poker.
Overall, Keikoan's winnings from his illustrious World Series of Poker professional career already totaled $734,097. Furthermore, a major part of these earnings was greatly attributed to his impressive performance at the No-Limit Holdem event of the Annual WSOP in 2008. After years of active participation in the international poker circuit, he was finally able to make it big with this all-important victory. The win not only gave him his very first international poker title, but it also made him one of the most serious contenders for world poker events in the future.
Keikoan made his first impact on the World Series of Poker in 2004, where he joined the $5,000 Limit Holdem event of the 35th Annual WSOP. After finishing with the 11th best record, he was able to earn $12,020 from that particular performance alone. In 2005, he made a short break from the WSOP, only to return in 2006 for more serious poker competitions. During that short span of time, he was able to polish his skills and strategies in the game, which made him one of the most outstanding contenders upon his return the following season.
Moreover, Keikoan participated in two major poker events at the 37th Annual World Series of Poker in 2006, with high hopes of making it really big someday. Despite the high anticipation of his return, he still fell short in accomplishing his dreams. At the $2,500 No-Limit Holdem Shorthanded 6/Table poker tournament, he only finished with the 49th best record overall, which gave him a decent prize of $6,633. In the meantime, his performance at the $2,000 No-Limit Holdem event was also not that impressive. During that event, he was able to land a very low 154th place with a prize of $1,437.
In 2007, redemption was up for grabs for Keikoan after his not-so-good performance at the previous installment of the World Series of Poker. At the 38th Annual WSOP, he joined the $5,000 World Championship Heads-Up No-Limit Holdem where he was able to land the 35th spot, which came with a nice cash prize of $9,212. At that very same season, he also joined the $10,000 World Championship No-Limit Texas Holdem. In the end, he was able to land the 63rd best record that came with a hefty prize of $154,194. After that, poker glory was at hand when he won his first ever WSOP title at the $2,000 No-Limit event of the 39th Annual WSOP in 2008.
